Application for the Getty Center and the Getty Villa

These instructions are only for Multicultural Undergraduate Internships at the Getty. Internships provide stipends of $3,500 for ten-week summer internships at the Getty Center in Los Angeles and the Getty Villa in Malibu, California. The internships are full time beginning June 18, 2012, and ending August 24, 2012. Health insurance, housing, and transportation are not provided. Students interested in internships at other organizations should refer to the list of available positions throughout Los Angeles County, which will be posted in April 2012.

How To Apply:
- Part 1: Complete and submit the online portion of your application (which includes uploading your Personal Statement and Supplemental Applicant Information form) by 5:00 p.m. PST, February 1, 2012.

- Part 2: 1 original official undergraduate transcript(s). Transcript(s) must record at least one semester or two quarters of college after high school. If you have transferred in the past year, you must also include a transcript from your previous college or university. The official transcripts must be received by the Foundation by February 1, 2012. No hand deliveries will be accepted.

- Part 3: 2 Letters of Recommendation sent via e-mail. Applicants must have two confidential letters of recommendation forwarded by their recommenders via e-mail to InternRecLetters@getty.edu no later than 5:00 p.m. PST February 1, 2012. Recommenders should attach a scanned original letter to the e-mail. In all cases, letters of recommendation must come directly from the recommender's institutional e-mail account and must clearly indicate the applicant's name (last name, first name) in the subject line and the recommender's name and title.
Typically, the most appropriate recommenders are university faculty members who can address your academic performance. Other recommenders may include past or current employers of relevant work who are familiar with your skills and abilities.
Recommenders should be sure to state how long s/he has known the applicant and in what capacity. We would particularly appreciate your comments on the applicant's abilities in the following areas: academic performance, research and writing skills, curiosity and ability to take initiative, interpersonal skills, and dependability. We would appreciate you ranking the individual on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being below average and 5 being excellent.

Notification
Due to the large volume of applications received, staff is unable to respond to application-related questions once the deadline has passed. Finalists will be contacted for phone or in-person interviews in early April. All applicants will be notified of the Foundation's final decision in May.
