Dear Friends,
I have having been getting advice from all of you for about a year. Your
words of wisdom have helped me on many an occassion. I am a 30 year veteran
art teacher. I am retiring from a large inner city school system. I taught 2
dimensional, sculpture and ceramics in high school. I truly love my job and
have been very successful. But my husband retired and wants to live in
Florida. I just got word this morning that I was hired in at a n high
school. When asked what I would be teaching I was told that I would have 2
photography classes, 1 AP art and something else, the personel person wasn't
sure. when I told her that I didn't have any experience in either, she said
that I could "wing it".
Because I'm in the chaos of finishing this semester, selling one home and
moving to another I just can't take a class this summer. Are there books I
can read that could prepare for the job? The district only had one secondary
opening, I've never taught any other age level. What does everybody think?
Am I getting in over my head? What about the AP art.
I figure that I probably could take a photography class in the fall.
