I too was a late reader and was made to sit on the bad bench for tutoring
from one
of the teachers . The "bad bench" was outside the principals office and used
for
those students who couldn;'t behave. they had to sit there as punishment. It
wasn';t
the "bad bench" when I was being tutored in reading but how did I know the
differenc
= I was bad because I couldn;t read - now in addition to being scared to
read (think
that was my main problem = two older sisters that did everything right) I was
now
totally ashamed because I was on the bad bench!!! How can educators be so
